Intense red with violet-purple reflections; the nose is clean and precise, small black fruits combine with the harmonious aromas of plum and cherry, accompanied by vanilla with spicy licorice. Concentrated on the palate but already balanced. The finish with lively and dense tannins is long and ends with notes of vanilla and cherry.

The different grape varieties for Collazzi - Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot - are harvested and vinified separately. The grapes are hand-picked on a vibrating sorting table to remove small foreign bodies such as spoiled grapes or leaves. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks at temperatures below 30 °C, there is a maceration period of 18 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barriques (50% new, 50% second passage). The 18-month aging in wood takes place in Collazzi's underground cellar at a natural temperature of 15 °C, followed by a further 12 months of bottle aging. The first vintage was produced in 1999.

Carlo Marchi erwarb die Kellerei 1933. Das Gut liegt inmitten des Chianti Classico Gebiets und weitet sich über 390 ha Land aus. Mit Reben bepflanzt sind lediglich 20 ha und weitere 100 ha mit Olivenbäumen. Das Weingut gehört zur Familie Marchesi di Frescobaldi, einer der bekanntesten weinproduzierenden Familien Italiens, zu welcher auch die Tenuta di Ornellaia gehört. Collazzi wird jedoch unabhängig von der Gruppe geführt und kann sich deshalb ausnahmslos einem nachhaltigen Qualitätsdenken verpflichten. Es wird viel Wert auf schonende und selektive Arbeit im Rebberg gelegt, die Ernte erfolgt von Hand.
